How To - Soft Bread Crumbs

I like using soft bread crumbs because I often find that hard ones are too crunchy for what I have in mind. I find that the bread crumbs at the store are often very expensive, also. So I have been making my own for some time now.

Ingredients:

Bread – Whatever you have on hand. This is a great way to use up stale bread, but Do Not use moldy bread as this is unsafe.

Instructions:

I like to unwrap the bread and set it out for an hour or two to let it dry out a bit (but it should not get rock-hard).

Tear two to three slices of bread into manageable chunks and put them in your blender.

Every blender is different, so you will have to do a little experimentation here, but that’s ok – there is nothing to burn, over season, or permanently damage! You want to turn your blender on to the highest speed. Turning the Bread into Crumbs should take about 3-10 seconds. If you have pieces of bread flying around the top of your blender not getting blended, turn it off, poke them down and try again.

Store them in the freezer in a tightly-closed container to keep them fresh and free from mold.
